One of the things you find out when you start working in SEO is that when you search on it to discover more, you come up with loads of links with regard to affiliate marketing. I had no clue what that was when I began the training course to find my abilities and I just ignored them as it didn’t seem to have much bearing.

What has become clear now that I’m more experienced is that the two things go hand in hand very easily. affiliate marketing has to do with making a website and forging partnerships with commercial companies and putting in your pages links and adverts to those partner sites to transfer traffic to them, and the partner companies are willing to pay a cut of any business done to the affiliate for directing the traffic. Why are they willing do this?

Well, put simply, if a firm intends to sell its wares on its website it has 2 alternatives. It can rely completely on its own efforts as far as online SEO and pay per click advertising and seek to get all its business traffic to the website. Or, by offering a financial inducement, it can licence affiliates to carry links and adverts and have traffic sent from greater numbers of sources and thus reap more from the added promotion, SEO and links which will be picked up by the search engines.

The US is where the idea was initiated and they are, of course, miles ahead in terms of affiliate marketing being accepted as a standard business practice and the willingness of retailers to give percentages to, essentially whoever who puts a link on their website. However, it is rapidly becoming usual in British business and affiliate program providers are starting up and offering the service to be the conduit, bringing together advertisers to affiliates and giving technical support in things like banner production, monitoring, collecting and making the commission payments to affiliates.

Now, none of this is going to make any difference to the retailer unless the affiliate marketing web pages carrying their link is found and so it is crucial that anybody considering having a go at affiliate marketing knows a bit about effective SEO as well since otherwise you are going to can spend loads of time and a bit of money on getting your site, setting it up, choosing your partners and finding the adverts and links. And yet it’s pointless unless you can get your page on the search engines in a location where potential visitors can see it and go to it.

This is an exciting expansion to the Osiris Web Services business portfolio and the programme in the next few weeks is to get the first shop completed, it is already going well, and as soon as the SEO is finished then I have plans for additional affiliate marketing sites to put in place over the next year.
